RIP Krozzy

Today, yet another angel left the earth. 

Krozzy, one of my first friends, passed away this afternoon. 
I got her when I was 9. A birthday gift from my parents. 
She taught me so much and when I got to tall to ride her, I loved her too much to sell her. 

She taught me how ride, in a way that the horses in school ever could. 
She showed me that not everything was as easy as it may seem and that you had to fight and put a lot of work to make something out of nothing. 

When I was 12, we competed in the Swedish youngrider cup, and won it. 
When I was 15, we won the dressage cup for young riders. We was competing against girls and boys that were 18 years old and had horses that were after a long row of famous competitors. 
I remember crying when the speaker told who'd won, she made me so happy and made me do something I'd never dared to dream about before.

When I was 17, she started limping. Her front knee were damaged and couldn’t be fixed. She'd slipped in the pasture, a simple accident.
I didn’t have the heart to put her to sleep, I loved her. 
My friends always told me that it was cruel to keep a horse that was in pain. But she wasn’t. She was being treated for life with pain-medication and herbs. I knew I could never ride her again, I just wanted her to be happy for the rest of her life, rather than ending up on a slaughter-house truck. She deserved so much better than that. 

This morning, I took her out to the pasture, along with her life-long companion, and released them both. She was doing great and seemed happy.
Two hours ago, when I came out to take them inside for the night, I prepared their food and went out to their pasture to take them in...
Fingal, my dad’s horse, stood by her side. 
I thought she was sleeping at first. When I came up to her, I noticed she wasn’t breathing anymore. 

The 9th of Januray 2014, we would’ve had 11 years together. 
You turned 28 the 2nd of August. 

The picture was taken this summer. 
She was 28 at the point, but didn’t look older than 8. 

R.I.P. Krozzy. 
I miss you :’(

Dear 2013, please end now so I don’t have to lose anyone else this year…
